Noah's Story
On August 14, 2008, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 26. When a doctor tells you something like that, you really feel every emotion possible. I was told this a few years after watching this horrible disease take my grandfather's life, so I was scared and angry. I never thought I would have to hear those words. I felt guilty for putting my family through this all over again.
I had surgery two days after my diagnosis. After the surgery, I thought, "Well that wasn't too bad - I am done!" Wrong! I had three months of chemotherapy to go through at that point. Nothing better than chemicals and needles every day for three months.
I met two of the most wonderful people through this experience. One of whom was Doctor William Purcell who made me feel like he could save the world. The other angel on earth came in the form of another cancer patient, Ginny Hein. She had been through so much and she happened to be there during my first chemo session. She pretty much talked me through the doors with her great attitude and personality. Those qualities gave me the confidence to do this.
Since my treatment we have lost Ginny. Now my friend and co-worker, Greg is fighting his own battle with cancer. So now I relay...I relay for life and for those who have lost their life to this disease. I guess for every year we walk the Survivor's lap is another year of life. So in the words of my family, "Just beat it!" Please help us to raise the funds to do that.
P.S. Thank you Ginny. You truly were a gift from God.
--Peace Out.
